VidWare’s competitive advantage is the ability to
customize for a specific platform or application
over companies whose product offerings are built
upon the reference software provided by the JVT
Standard group. It requires intimate knowledge of
the entire software package in order to be able to
successfully modify or customize. VidWare’s design
is “modular” in nature, facilitating easier
maintenance coding and reusability of certain chunks
of code. This
unparalleled, in-depth knowledge and experience
allow us to enhance, optimize, and adopt new parts
of the standard more quickly and with much greater
reliability. This also gives us a great
advantage over our competitors because we can
structure the core code in such a way that it is
natively suited to differing platforms and devices.
Rather than having to extensively modify the code
in order to port to another medium, we can use the
majority of the core code.
This provides many benefits in terms
of performance, flexibility, and maintainability.
For example, it enables VidWare to optimize the code
at a granular level and to include flags at that
grain level. These flags can then be individually
activated in order to provide the best solution
available for a given application of the CODEC.
During the course of implementation,
VidWare has found innovative methods and processes,
which provide better performance and efficiency than
the reference code. These patent pending methods
and processes respect the H.264 standard and will
become more valuable as more industries rely on the
H .264 standard.
